Assurance Is a Muscle Here’s How to Build It
Confidence isn’t something you’re born with — it’s something you train, like a muscle. I used to think confident people had something I didn’t. But then I started noticing the little choices they made — and I realized, I could make them too.
Every time I did something that scared me, like speaking up in class or setting a boundary, I felt a small shift. That tiny moment — that “I did it” feeling — is how confidence grows.
Here’s how I train my confidence muscle:
Keep promises to yourself. If I say I’ll do something — even something small like a walk or journaling — I do it. This builds trust in myself.
Try new things. Whether it’s a dance class, a solo café date, or a new workout, novelty pushes you outside your comfort zone — where growth happens.
Speak to yourself kindly. Confidence can’t grow in a harsh environment. I treat myself like a friend, not an enemy.
Celebrate progress. Every small win is worth noticing. Confidence comes from recognizing your effort, not waiting until you’re “done.”
Over time, I stopped waiting to “feel confident” and started taking action anyway. That’s the secret: confidence doesn’t come first — action does.
